Time of the Thaw
Age of Ice
In a past millennia a war was waged amongst the gods and other such beings. This war spread across all the realities and planes of the world, and involved all manner of proxies and powers. The war raged for generations, and both sides lost sight of the scope and reach of the conflict. It threatened the very fabric of the world itself, a destruction as philosophical as it would be physical.
Among the powers and gods was a being known as Paraghys, a keeper of knowledge and secrets. Paraghys alone foresaw the destruction that was to come, and he alone chose to act. His actions placed him and his proxies as a third force in the war; a force with no allies and enemies on all sides. But his knowledge and powers allowed him a small advantage. His proxies obtained an artifact from the Age of Dawn, the Tomb of the Hoar Frost. With this artifact Paraghys’ proxies were able to disrupt the very essence of both the gods and the powers they were arrayed against. The cataclysm that followed was horrible and a great deal was lost, but the world still turned.
The Age of Ice blanketed the world after the use of the Tomb of the Hoar Frost. Glaciers reached down from the north to cover entire continents in miles of ice and snow. Many of the great civilizations of the world were destroyed as the Ice, and its magic, worked against them. Then again many survived to start again as the Ice has now begun to recede.
